Camponotus castaneus

Camponotus castaneus which nest in the ground under stones in open woods, in the same manner as the species of the Camponotus-maculatus group. The workers are very timid and probably nocturnal.

• Hibernation: Nov – Mar
• Suggested housing: Test Tube, Acrylic, Plaster
• Nutrition: Sugars from honey or sugar water. Protein from insect sources such as fruit flies
• Queen size: 13 – 15 mm
• Worker size: 7 – 10 mm
• Monogyne/polygyne: Monogyne (One Queens per colony)
